Bungarribee Zoo to open in Sydney’s West at Blacktown
There’s a new zoo coming to Sydney, Bungarribee Zoo at Blacktown in Sydney’s West.
A new zoo, Bungarribee Zoo, is coming in 2018, with planning approvals granted by the local government in Blacktown.
The “cage-free” zoo will be home to dozens of animals, with a focus on African species, especially those in danger.

The new western Sydney Zoo at Blacktown will be home to 30 exhibits, it will feature large, elevated board walks and glassed observation areas to view the animals.
The zoo will feature exotic animals, inlcuding hippos, cheetas, giraffes and big cats in ann ‘African grasslands’ section. There will be a South-East Asian tropical, African highlands, and native Australian animal sections for the zoo.

Deputy Mayor of Blacktown Council Tony Beasdale said it was great news for Western Sydney, with Bungarribee Zoo set to create hundreds of jobs and attract millions of visitors every years.
“This kind of activity, this kind of decision is going to go a long way for us in terms of tourism [and] job creation,” he said.
“[There will be] 300 jobs [and]we are so, so happy about that one.
“We’re very, very pleased about the whole idea itself; it will really supplement what is already occurring.
“It will be a massive expansion of western Sydney, particularly in Blacktown, so it shows that people are putting their money where the entertainment is going to be.”
Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, said Sydney Zoo “will offer an unparalleled tourism experience”.
“Sydney Zoo will set a new standard in visitor experience and have people coming back time and time again,” Mr Ayres said.
“Set to be Australia’s most technologically advanced and innovative zoo in Australia, it will also feature an incredible integrated Aboriginal and natural heritage program, focusing on the local Darug people of western Sydney.” ABC News reported.
