Mum and giraffe calf moments after it’s birth.

The calf was born about a week before it was expected during the morning today, September 14 2017, at Mogo Zoo, just outside of Batemans Bay in New South Wales.

“It still never ceases to amaze me how special it is,” owner/operator Sally Padey told ABC News New South Wales.

“If anything goes wrong you can’t actually interfere, so that’s why it’s always nerve wracking for me,” she said.

“She’s a seasoned mum so we didn’t really predict anything, but you can’t know until the baby is on the ground.”

The Mogo Zoo is yet to name the giraffe calf.

The baby girffe’s mother is named Sharni.

The incredible Mogo Zoo Giraffe Birth comes just a day after it was announced a new zoo with exotica animals, including African animals, will be built in Sydney’s Western suburb of Blacktown.

It supports endangered and MANY exotic animal species on the far north NSW coast.
