Breaking: A man has been attacked by a shark in the surf and soon after died from injuries, reports said.
Emergency workers were told a man in his 50s was surfing this morning in Tweet Heads, northern NSW when he was bitten by a shark.
The man was enjoying a surf mid Sunday morning at Kingscliff just south of Tweed Heads when a shark of unknown species attacked.
Paramedics arrived on scene to try and save the surfer however he succumbed to the injuries.

The NSW police told media that “A man has died after being critically injured in a suspected shark attack at Kingscliff. All beaches between Kingscliff & Cabarita are closed for 24 hours,”
““Witnesses have told police a 3m shark attacked a man while he was surfing at Salt Beach, South Kingscliff, shortly after 10am,” NSW Police said in a later statement.
“Police have been told several board-riders came to his assistance and fought the shark off before the injured man could be helped to shore.
“He was rendered first aid for serious injuries to his left leg but died at the scene.“
