Australia’s borders will close for “at least 6 months,” Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said.

The Australian border shutdown will continue for many months, the government said.

Today the Australian Federal Government said all non-Australians will not be able to enter Australia.

Now the government says this will remain in place for at least 6-months.

The unprecidented and historical measurers will last until at least September.

The Prime Minister said people need to self isolate for 2-weeks if they’ve come from overseas.

“For Australians, of course, they will be able to return and they will be subject, as they already are, to 14 days of isolation upon arrival back in Australia.”

The measures were put in place after hundreds of people coming from overseas tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

“We have about 80 per cent of the cases … in Australia that are either the result of someone who has contracted the virus overseas or someone who has had direct contact with someone who has returned from overseas,” he said.
