Breaking News: All people who return from overseas from midnight Saturday will quarantined in Hotels.
Any Australian citizen or resident returning from the rest of the world, by ship or plane, will be forced to do this.
It does not matter if the person arriving from overseas to Australia is sick or not.
There are around 7,000 – 8,000 people arriving in Australia by commercial aircraft every day, the PM said.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the States and Territories would enforce this.
“By no later than 11.59pm Saturday, in hotels and other accommodation facilities for two weeks… before they area able to return to their home,” Scott Morrison said.
People will be taken from the airport to hotels in major cities where there are International Airports.
In Western Australia, cruise ship passengers will be isolated on an island off the Perth coast.
The Chief Medical Officer told the press in Canberra that the nation must begin to quarantine all new arrivals to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Many people who have returned from overseas had given Covid-19 to family, friends and others.
This new strategy would mitigate the risk of more community transmission.
“We are getting on top of our outbreaks, but we must get on to of our community transmission,” the Chief Medical officer said.
