Australia is failing to control Coronavirus, leading experts warn, as Australia’s ‘Covid-19’ curve gets out of control.
Australia today hit over 1000 cases of Covid-19, with a surge in numbers across Australia’s most populated states.
A number of cases that involved community spread have been recorded now; with a number of people not able to trace where they got the virus.
It seems like much of the country is not yet heading the warnings to stay inside and stop interacting, with the spread of the virus likely to go on unchecked if Australians fail to comply.
Surge in Cases
The Covid-19 Australia case numbers rising steeply over last 2 days.
State and territory health authorities have reported 1,068 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia on Saturday night March 22 2020.
Dr Norman Swan, a leading public health advocate in Australia, said Australia was so far failing to stop the spread of the virus.
“Sadly what’s been predicted for two weeks now. Was inevitable if they didn’t do anything significant. They’ve focussed on blocking the borders. But not enough on social distancing which is all that works. Heartbreaking. Oh it would have been so good to have been wrong,” he said.
Worst in Sydney
So far New South Wales have the most cases of Covid-19 as well as the most cases per capita.
But the number of confirmed cases is only part of the story. An important measure of the spread of infectious disease is the growth rate — in other words, how long it takes for the number of confirmed cases to double.
This is easier to see when the number of confirmed cases is plotted on a log scale.
Most of Australia’s imported Covid-19 cases have been from the United States.
Yesterday, Australia banned all foreign visitors to Australia, however most of the Coronavirus cases are from Australian’s returning from other places overseas.
NSW and Sydney is the epicentre of the Covid-19 Crisis in Australia.
Anyone who has arrived from overseas to Australia must self-isolate for 2-weeks.
There is evidence people are not doing that.
