Sydney’s New Years Eve Celebrations cut back as the local health crisis continues.

The NSW government will be limiting New Years Eve Celebrations to just five people per household outside a family unit and outdoor gatherings becoming more limited.

Outdoor gatherings have been reduced from 50 to 30 for the Greater Sydney area.

As of today there are 18 new cases from 17,000 tests.

Nine are associated with Avalon.

Six are associated with a new Croydon cluster in Sydney’s inner west and are all family members. Three cases are under investigation – one connected to the northern beaches and two connected to Wollongong.

All of greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Nepean Blue Mountains and Wollongong will be limited to five guests in their household for New Year’s Eve. It is generally recommended people simply stay home instead.

There will be an update on stay-at-home restrictions for the northern beaches south zone on January 2. The northern beaches north zone restrictions remain in place until January 9.
