Rockdale Fitnest First Incident
A man shot in the face at Fitness First Rockdale has died.
Former bikie boss Mick Hawi has been named as the victim of a shooting at a Rockdale gym, Nine News Sydney reported.
Former bikie boss Mahmoud “Mick” Hawi is best known for being involved with the infamous 2009 Sydney Airport brawl. One bikie was killed in that clash.
The 37-year-old died after the incident, which could set off a bikie war in Sydney.
Police and ambulances have responded after a shooting near Rockdale Fitness First in Sydney.
Reports say a man has been shot in the face and has sustained life threatening injuries after the attack around the gym, Fitness First, in the Sydney suburb of Rockdale.
The man was in cardiac arrest as ambulance crews rushed him to St George hospital.
One report said the person shot was a ‘high profile crime figure’ – that was not confirmed. We are following developments as sources report more details.

Fitness First is one of the most common and popular gyms in Australia, the incident happened in the middle of the day when potentially dozens of people were at the gym, which was open at the time.
Rockdale is a suburb in southern Sydney, near the Sydney International and Domestic Airport.
In February 2017 there was a massive brawl at the gym at Rockdale, 7 News Sydney reported. It’s not clear if the two stories are related.
The shooting incident comes just a few weeks after a man was shot and killed in Sydney’s west.
