Breaking: A train bound for Sydney has derailed in regional Victoria.
A train travelling from Melbourne to Sydney with an estimated 160 passengers has derailed.
Ambulance Victoria says 2 people have died at the scene of the XPT train derailment at Wallan. One being airlifted to hospital in Melbourne.
Others escaped with minor injuries.
A train derailed about 7.40pm 47km north of Melbourne, close to the town of Wallan.
Many people are injured, with some passengers trapped in the wreckage.
A triage centre has been set up nearby at a BP petrol station.

There were frantic scenes as a passenger train was reported to have derailed this evening.
