Sydney flash flooding

There was a huge deluge of rain in parts of Sydney tonight.

A number of vehicles were trapped in flood waters with people requiring rescue.

Images and video showed a number of cars and vans submerged near Rose Hill.

There was also extreme flash flooding in other suburbs around Sydney, including Parramatta and surrounds.

34mm of rain fell at Guildford, 39mm at Toongabbie in 30 min are some of the standouts. 1cm hail reported at Baulkham Hills

Flooding in western Sydney

Video shared by NSW incident alerts showed cars stopped on a major roadway with others trapped. Emergency responders were on scene.

Footage coming in from James Ruse Drive near Rosehill Racecourse where multiple drivers got caught out by severe flash flooding throughout the area.

Meanwhile, Emergency crews are working to restore power to about 30,000 customers across Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter region after tonight’s storms.

People should be sure to stay away from fallen trees and debris which can hide damaged wires.
