New lockdown rules to stop the spread of Covid-19 across New South Wales and Australia have been announced.

The new extreme rules are in place from midnight tonight in NSW and Australia wide. The New South Wales police will be enforcing the new draconian rules.

Stay at home

To help stop the spread of COVID-19, people must…

  • Stay at home, and only leave your house for:
    • food or other goods and services you need
    • work or education, but only where you cannot do it remotely
    • exercise, alone or with people from your household
    • medical or caring reasons.
  • If you go out, stay 1.5 metres away from other people at all times.
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home.

Don’t gather in public

Do not gather with more than 2 people in public, except:

  • for members of the same household
  • where the gathering is essential for work or education.

Australia has passed 4000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

NSW announced 127 new cases this morning bringing the state’s total to 1,918. There are concerts of community spread in Sydney and NSW.

The new draconian measures are being put in place to mitigate the risk of wider spread, particularly in Sydney.
