People are joining together for a Black Lives Matter protest in the Sydney CBD today, despite a court order banning it.
Thousands of people are gathering at Town Hall in Sydney, with the train station there shut down. Trains will not stop at the station this afternoon as protestors are discouraged from entering the city.
The court ruling is being appealed.
Update: The appeal lodged was appealed, meaning the protest won’t be considered unlawful.
There are already tense sense in the city, with one man holding up an “all lives matter” sign being booed by crowds and being questioned by police.
