Sydney Storms have created severe power outages today.

Nearly 20,000 homes and businesses are currently without power.

A massive storm cell ripped across Sydney’s northwest and north shore suburbs.

Hail was also reported along with strong winds and flooding.

Emergency crews are working to restore power to about 17,500 homes & business across Sydney’s North & Lower North Shore after severe storms. Main areas impacted are Gladesville, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, Ryde, Lane Cove West.

Ausgrid said teams were working fast to restore power to customers.

Ausgrid said power lines were down in some suburbs of Sydney.

Storms have brought wires down this afternoon including this one at Lynbara Avenue in St Ives. Emergency crews are on the way. 

Never approach fallen powerlines, stay at least 8metres or 2 car lengths away and report them to Ausgrid immediately on 131388.
