A tree has randomly fallen on a road in the CBD, despite no strong winds or thunderstorms.
The tree fell on the middle of York street.
Thankfully it was late on a Saturday afternoon and there were few pedestrians.
One person was injured, with only minor scrapes.
The 34-year-old narrowly avoided being badly hit and possibly killed, emergency workers said.
NSW Ambulance said the injured man was lucky to be alive.
“We have got one patient who got a glancing blow and we are treating him for a potentially fractured scapular or shoulder blade,” NSW Ambulance inspector Giles Buchanan said.
“He is extremely lucky to be alive,” Buchanan said. “Half a step forward and he could have been in a very different situation and he may not have survived.”
Crews were called around 6.10pm Saturday.
York Street, is closed southbound at Margaret St as a large tree has fallen across the road. Traffic is diverted into Grosvenor St, Bridge and Pitt St.
