It’s what weather forecasters are describing as a “polar jet” – a series of icy cold fronts brining snow to greater Sydney and the Australian Alps.

The freezing conditions being experienced by millions of Australia’s on the south-east regions is creating havoc and part delight.

Polar Jet of Cold

Sydney based forecaster Andrew Miskelly said a series of icy cold fronts from the born out of the Southern Ocean and Antarctic regions were behind the severe weather conditions.

Earlier Miskelly showed images of cold winter conditions from Antarctica 🇦🇶 moving up toward Australia, saying it would only take “a mere flap of the proverbial butterfly’s wings” to happen. He was right.

The “polar jet” is responsible for Australia’s sudden the freezing cold weather change.
