Sydney Wind – Extremely Windy Conditions for Sydney

This morning it was a once in 100-year rain weather event smashing Sydney and flooding streets, homes, businesses, trains and stations.

This afternoon and tonight, its extreme winds battering Australia’s largest city, as the storm that battered Sydney earlier actually circles back over.

“The second phase of this rain event is now beginning,” the BOM said in a statement.

It is also starting to spin up over other parts of NSW.

The earlier storms & intense rain are are “starting to return” to areas including Sydney, Newcastle & Wollongong.

This system has already proved to be dangerous, they said. Commuters should be aware of delays and people should stay off the roads wherever possible.

Sydney Wind is Extreme

Sydney wind is starting to pick up with gusts of 90/km per hour recorded at 4pm on the Sydney coast.

Wind gusts were recorded at the Royal National Park near Stanwell Park.

At Maroubra Beach, sand is crossing the road and onto shop and home fronts.

The Sydney wind forecast is set to worsen, with winds of well over 100/km gusts possible in the next few hours.

An extreme wind warning is in place, with gale warnings for Sydney, up to Bryon and the Illawarra Coast.

“This intense winds will generate large seas and surf today and tomorrow.”
