Sydney weather update: Sydney will experience freezing conditions as a cold weather mass moves over the state.

The cold freeze is currently hitting Sydney with temperatures to plummet tonight.

“It’s coming through Canberra right now and will pass over the Sydney basin this evening,” BOM forecasters told Sydney media.

“It will pass tonight but there will be cold wind in its wake.”

Freezing cold winds would bring the temperature down even more.

The city is heading for an overnight minimum of 8C.

There will be heavy snowfalls in the alps and snow up to 800 meters above sea level.
