Bondi Coronavirus outbreak: Public health authorities are targeting Australia’s famous Bondi Beach, as a huge cluster of Covid-19 breaks out in the area.
Community transmission of Coronavirus is taking place in the area due to “infectious backpackers,” ABC reports.
To identify and attempt to stop the Bondi Coronavirus outbreak, a pop up testing facility will be set up.
NSW chief medical officer Kerry Chant said her team was working with St Vincent’s Hospital to set up a pop-up coronavirus clinic to battle the Bondi Coronavirus outbreak.
“we do know there is a potential risk that other members of the community may have come in contact with infected backpackers. For prudency, we want to increase testing,” she said.
“Today I’m really urging that we increase the testing particularly in areas where there’s community transmission or around clusters,” she said.
Reports said people in the traditional tourist hotspot are still ignoring the restrictive measures introduced by the Federal Government.
Last night, a group of people was seen gathered on the balcony of Noahs Backpacker Hostel in Bondi, ABC Sydney said.
There have been dozens of Covid-19 cases in Bondi, with community transmission there confirmed.
