Sydney weather alert:
Severe Weather Warning: A ‘southerly buster’ is expected to hit the Sydney metropolitan, Hunter and Illawarra regions late this afternoon.
Damaging winds, averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible along the coastal fringe between Jervis Bay and the Central Coast this evening, as a vigorous southerly wind change moves along the coast.
Exposed areas are most susceptible says the Bureau of Meteorology.
The strongest winds are expected on the head of the change. Winds are expected to slowly ease for each location a few hours following the arrival of the southerly change.
Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Wollongong, The Entrance, Bulli, Port Kembla, Kiama and Huskisson.
